TS5 Homebase Community Test | Exclusive Badge – Announcements

Hey everyone,

The Homebase release is around the corner, so we would like to invite you all to join us for a stress test on 2022-09-20T17:00:00Z .

While the team is hard at work in the background to ensure that Homebase will work as smoothly as possible once you all get to go hands-on with it, @Five_Alive would like to take the time and have a stress test with everyone that’s interested in joining us. Since we know how much you all love badges, we’ve decided to include a small but fancy reward for everyone that partakes…

 What does this mean?

During the Homebase Stress Test, you will be led by TeamSpeak Staff to perform specific actions in your TeamSpeak Client, which will help us collect important data/Information regarding Homebase and how the client performs during a Homebase move.

:information_source: What is Homebase? :information_source:

TeamSpeak 5 Servers will give you the option to host your very own Homebase. Homebase is the Server where your chat account is created in. Nonetheless, you can still chat with other users that are located on other Homebases via federation.

Similar to a traditional TeamSpeak Voice Server, if you decide to host your own dedicated Homebase, this gives you complete control over not only your voice server but also your chats, and rooms which now gives you more and new ways to effectively manage your decentralized server, it’s security and privacy and how your community or team functions overall.

In the future, TeamSpeak Users will be able to connect to your TeamSpeak 5 Server and decide whether or not they want to join your Homebase and simultaneously host essentially all of their data at your Homebase.

:medal_sports: Exclusive Badge :medal_sports:

As mentioned above, there will be an Exclusive myTeamSpeak Badge for everyone that participates and fills out the form at the end of the stress test. Here’s a sneak preview:

Tutorial & Very Important Information

This is a step-by-step tutorial on what exact actions will be performed during the stress test. It is very important to follow the instructions given by TeamSpeak Staff to ensure the test goes according to our plan.

Preparation:

  1. Create a new myTeamSpeak Account.
  2. Download/Login to TeamSpeak 5 with your new Account.
  3. Redeem the badge code MULTIPASS. This will unlock your global chat features.
  4. Setup Chat and choose ‘myTeamSpeak’ as your Homebase.
  5. Connect to ‘beta.voice.teamspeak.com
  6. Join the Stress Test Channel and wait for further instructions by TS-Staff

:warning: Please note: We highly recommend that you use a new myTeamSpeak account and not your main/day-to-day account. This process is not yet fully tested, so data loss and/or your account could be at risk.

Homebase Move:

  1. Right-click the server name and select ‘Make Homebase’.
  2. Press ‘Select’
  3. Press ‘I’m Sure’
  4. After you’ve done that, please wait for further instructions by TS-Staff.

Things We’ll Be Testing

In order for this to be tested properly, we will need to keep a note of our UUID & create a history before we move Homebase. This means we will need to:

  1. Keep a note of your UUID
  2. Add each other as a contact
  3. Send a text based message to each other
  4. Send an image to each other
  5. Send a GIF to each other
  6. Once we have generated a history, then we will all perform the Homebase move

Please note: With the text based message, image & GIF, we would recommend using the same one for each contact you reach out to. This will make it a lot easier for each individual to pinpoint when something is out of place or potentially missing. Keep these polite please

After this:

  1. We will have a quick group discussion to see if any immediate concerns/issues have been spotted
  2. We’ll check our UUID’s to see if this has remained the same or not
  3. You will be directed by TS-Staff to fill out a form with your findings and also to add some details so we can apply your tester badge to your “main” account (We wouldn’t want to apply your new badge to your tester account unless you really want the badge here).

Closing Words

We hope to see you at the test a week today and thank you in advance for helping us to test this feature out. The data we will acquire from this will be really helpful and will help us to identity any concerns that may exist.

[Solved] myTS maintenance (account creation, password reset, generation of new recovery key) – Announcements

We are forced to maintenance our myTS services.

We have to disable the creation of new accounts, password reset and the ability to create a new recovery key in client.

There is no security issue going on. A service broke and accounts can get into a state where account encryption may be broken and recovering them after password reset is not possible.

We hope to get these running again within the next 24 hours.
We will update this thread when there is an update.

TeamSpeak 5.0.0-beta71 – Announcements – TeamSpeak

Thanks for all the feedback. We discussed everything and I’m trying to answer anything that came up.

Custom icons/banner will be available for homebases.
So that hosting these happens on own homebase server.

Chats stay in third column.

Any idea what to make it better here?

More space may need more scrolling and searching afterwards. We would not like change that.
But maybe separator / line as suggested from @Destr0rso may help here.

This wasn’t expected but can happen during an Alpha.
Are you sure you must start from scratch or only update the parts we did change.

Yes for banner and icons.

The problem here is that others use the search more often and will need it somewhere. That’s why we did choose the burger menu to offer all available points in one menu.

We will try out if a separator makes it better. But we don’t like to remove the category icons.

Hiding such main element which is often used is not what we want. Sorry.

Tnx Forwarded to our devs.

Nothing has changed for that point.
You had to open the info page in b70 as well or else you had no buttons to manage the server.

Also context menu on server activity or above server tree still exists. So there is no must have to open the info dialog at all.

We thought above that but decided against such animation.
If Theme author likes if for his theme we are fine with that.

It was needed.

We can not reproduce this.

Which operation system are you using?
How many screens are connected (resolution etc)?

Can you check that a placement.json exists and is written on a change?
On Windows you find that file under %AppData%\TeamSpeak\Default

This wasn’t on purpose. Sorry.
We assume a change needed for the upcoming mobile TS Chat client did that. We trying to revert this.

TeamSpeak 5.0.0-beta72 🎄 – Announcements

:santa: Beta 72 is here to replace it’s older faulty version.

The main changes are

  • a crash fix people had very often.
  • Linux user not being able to select an avatar or upload files (this may not work on all these different Linux desktop variants)

Here is the full change log

* Fixed a crash that some people randomly experienced when using their system
* Fixed Linux client not offering file dialogs
* Fixed Manage Server section being shown while editing the server
* Fixed room name not being shown when receiving an invite
* Fixed an issue that could result in a contact being on your contact list twice
* Added a warning to the QR Code that it is NOT to be shared
  • There is no beta 72 for MacOS Users. We hope to bring beta 73 back to MacOS.
We moved our whole build systems and had not planned to release a new version this year. Some parts in our new system can not be build yet.
  • The QR code & mobile app can currently only be used by alpha users.
  • Client GUI is blank? The client checks for modified files and when found file for UI is denied to be used. Please reinstall your client.
  • Homebase / Chat setup will not work with new myTS accounts. Here you must install Beta 70 and finish the setup there. then you can update back to Beta 72
  • Feedback as per always is welcome in this thread . Issues that are not related to this update belong to it’s own thread.
  • We suggest to place your wishes for upcoming releases in existing or new threads in the suggestion area instead of the release thread. We mention this because each update post will be closed after some days and the wish or suggestion could be lost.

  • Thanks @ImScheinox for testing and pointing to the crash
